Creatives in Schools programmes

Crescendo Trust have a number of programmes underway and in planning for schools in 2022. Get in touch and let’s have a conversation about how our industry leading musicians and audio techs can work with your students to pass on skills, inspire or mentor talent.

Creatives in Schools Auckland

Crescendo are not running Creatives in Schools programmes in 2023.

Crescendo Trust are looking for partner schools to apply for the next round of funding in 2024 and beyond to run an 8-10 week creative music programme with your school.

Creatives in Schools aims to provide creative learning experiences that enhance the wellbeing of students and ākonga and develop their knowledge and skills in communication, collaboration, and creative thinking and practice.  More about the Creatives in Schools is on the Ministry of Education website

Creatives in Schools Potential Projects

To offer these projects we need to secure funding. Some potential projects we can offer include:

INTRODUCTION TO RADIO OR PODCAST

Rangatahi working in groups as either ad writers, radio hosts or music reviewers to work towards creating, recording and editing a radio show or podcast that will be aired on Crescendo’s community radio station Rawkus Radio.

SONG SCHOOL
Working with Crescendo Musicians and producers, rangatahi write and compose a song that is then recorded at your school or Crescendo Studio and students learn about editing using daw (digital audio workdesk), mixing and mastering.

We are not running this course in 2023. However, we have  paid school holiday songwriting and recording workshops available in 2023. Read more about our Auckland school holiday workshops.

Learning outside of the classroom

RAP SCHOOL

Crescendo would like to offer a 2.5 hour in studio workshop for students 15-18. In groups of 4 (maximum numbers of 24 per session), students get to work under the guidance of known NZ hip hop artists and music mentors to write, record and mix a rap song from start to finish.

Sound interesting?  We have a paid school holiday workshop available Rap, Bars and Beats. Read more about our Auckland school holiday workshops.

Lunchtime Learning - Panel Talks

If you have a group of students that are keen to find out more about careers in music, audio or the recording industry, we have a network of industry bodies, musicians, record labels and distributers that we can pull in to give inspiration and answer questions from students.
