CREATIVES IN SCHOOLS

Crescendo creatives are looking for interested schools to run creative projects as part of the Ministry of Education Creatives in Schools programme.  Currently Crescendo are offering an ‘Introduction to Radio production project for 2022.

Round 3 applications for projects in term 4 2022 close Septemeber 5 2021.

Creatives in Schools

Creatives in Schools is a wellbeing programme delivered by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and Creative NZ.  

In Round 3, funding will be given to up to 117 practitioners to run an 8-10 week creative project in schools in term 4 2022.  Creatives in Schools aims to provide creative learning experiences that enhance the wellbeing of students and ākonga and develop their knowledge and skills in communication, collaboration, and creative thinking and practice.  More about the programme is on the Ministry of Education website.

Introduction to Radio

The Crescendo Creatives in Schools proposal has rangitahi working in groups as either ad writers, radio hosts or music reviewers to work towards creating, recording and editing a radio show that will be aired on Crescendo’s community radio station Rawkus Radio.

During the programme, students practise reflection and critical thinking and learn new skills in audio recording and production. Gratitude practises and other positive wellbeing behaviours are woven into the learning. The course is written for students 13-18yrs and can be tailored to fit your school and held on days and times that suit over the 8-10 weeks.
