Youth ProgramMES

Crescendo Studio’s mentoring programmes focus on music production, audio engineering, radio and artist development. Our young people are able to directly engage and connect with our mentors who are leading experts in the creative industries. This enables them to learn about a wide range of knowledge and skills, while also building industry relationships. Our rangatahi benefit from exposure to real-world industry experience and training through our commercial sound design work which also connects them to employment opportunities and access to further education pathways. The focus is tailored for each individual, but the goal remains the same: to empower the young person to make positive changes in their life.

Crescendo Te Urunga (social impact hub) is a space for young people to creatively express themselves and join our whanau.

I totally recommend Crescendo to other providers who are looking for passionate music instructors and tutors with great working Kaupapa that is in line with the you development principles Aotearoa. They are upfront about what they can and cannot deliver and do not over promise things but are able to take on advice and work together to achieve customer satisfaction. I would like to thank the Crescendo staff for the service they provide week in and week out.

Crescendo Trust really invests in the tamariki and rangatahi they work with… I have had a really positive experience working alongside the staff at Crescendo, this is due to the great communication between staff and genuine care for the children’s needs. They have always been willing to compromise, get creative and make adaptations to their work so that the child can feel comfortable… I would highly recommend Crescendo for any young males, especially those with an interest in the music industry or those needing professional social interactions with male role models.

My interactions with the mentors have mostly been with Marcus Powell and David Atai… They offer valuable knowledge from their professional experience and provide fantastic opportunities to help develop the youth they with. They are also very down to earth and caring, and make everyone feel welcome, and their commitment to their work is both inspiring and appreciated. They have helped me become a more competent and confident musician, performer, radio host, and person… I believe Crescendo is doing vital work in empowering the youth of New Zealand and helping each of us be the best version of ourselves.

Q & A

Crescendo’s programs focus on a range of sound, performance, writing, event management and radio broadcasting courses with an aim to empower young people to both express themselves as well as gain transferable skills that they can use in any future pathway. We lead with aroha and envision a future where young people are empowered to value the lives they lead. We are here to help rangatahi navigate their waka.

We call our program The LinkUp. The LinkUp allows you to pick the modules that will benefit you in your journey to being a more self sustained artist. The music industry has multiple pathways. We’ve compiled these pathways into specific units and broken down each unit into modules. Our units cover beat making, production, song writing, live performance, radio broadcasting, how to promote yourself and more!

If you’re constantly singing, already writing your own lyrics, strumming out new songs and making beats at home then Crescendo is right for you. We can help you take your music from garage band to emerging artist, launching you into a future that is only limited by your own imagination.

Please contact us for pricing information. If you are not able to afford payment, please don’t worry, we’re still keen to work with you. Just let us know if you need to apply for a scholarship for partial or the full amount and we’ll work with you to get you set up, pain free.

Our weekly group sessions are run two times a day (10am-2pm with time for lunch and 4pm-7pm) on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We recommend each young person book for 1 of these sessions only 1 day/week. Advanced students have the option to book in for additional solo sessions anytime from 10am-7pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, where they are making all the music and pushing all the buttons.

Each week rangatahi will progress through learning modules, until they complete and receive their certificate. The learning modules are set up to run from 1-6 weeks in length and are designed so that you do not need to take the sessions consecutively, allowing for the rangatahi to book in their learning to suit their schedule.

We also offer 2 hour 1:1 mentoring sessions for those looking for intensive sound recording and radio teaching and or want a way to ease into group work.
