The LinkUp

Crescendo’s LinkUp programmes focus on a range of song writing, performance, audio engineering, sound production, podcasting and radio broadcasting courses with an aim to empower young people to both express themselves as well as gain transferable skills that they can use in any future pathway. We lead with aroha and envision a future where young people are empowered to value the lives they lead.

We are here to help rangatahi navigate their waka.

We call our programmes The LinkUp. The LinkUp allows you to pick the modules that will benefit you in your journey to being a more self sustained artist. The music industry has multiple pathways. We’ve compiled these pathways into specific units and broken down each unit into modules. Our units cover beat making, production, song writing, live performance, radio broadcasting, how to promote yourself and more!

Delivery of programmes is a mixture of classroom style learning in a recording studio, practical exercises, performance, projects, hands on, and 1:1 mentoring. Our programmes have been developed especially for youth 15-24 years old as an alternative to mainstream education providers.  Entry requirements into courses and workshops are based on students’ needs and prior experience.

About

Crescendo offers a 3-tiered mentoring programme.

Tier 1: The introductory course Te Urunga “Entranceway to the Future” is a 6 week course that runs for 4 hours a day/3 days per week. This course has multiple intakes during the year. During this course students build confidence, learn new skills, and work towards creating a podcast or radio show that will be aired on Crescendo Radio. Get in touch to find out intake dates.

Tier 2: The LinkUp are shorter courses in specialised topics with smaller class sizes and more 1:1 time with our mentors.  Advanced students have the option to book in for additional solo sessions at Crescendo recording studio, where they are making all the music and pushing all the buttons.

Tier 3: The Collective is a group intake with graduates from the LinkUp programmes. The Collective work collaboratively with your peers towards putting on an event or creating an audio or musical piece together.

We can also offer 2 hour 1:1 mentoring sessions for those looking for intensive sound recording and radio teaching and or want a way to ease into group work.
